I was able to pick up one of everything my store had. It seems they didnt have every single FCB though. Owly, Titans are just a couple that I hear was offered elsewhere and not in my store.

I walked out with 10 titles - four were kid friendly. I seem to recall in years past having some 15-20.

My store also had the artist Fernando Ruiz there shortly after I left so the place was a zoo. All in all it was a good trip for me and the offspring.

My closest comic shop is over 50 miles away so getting there on a regular basis is not easy. I do however have a pull list with them. I only wanted one of the free comics this year. They could not hold even that 1 book for a regular customer. I know the idea is to get in new customers but shouldn't a regular customer with an ongoing pull list be able to get 1 free comic even though I couldn't get to the store that day. It actually is a regret on mine that I have never made it too FCBD because of the distance involved. They usually have cool local artists and costumed characters that would be fun to get a picture with.

And to expand on my comment about Diamond's Comic Shop Locator: if search on "Orange Park Florida," it tells me I have to put more information in. If I expand the search term to "Wells Road Orange Park Florida," it finds three shops, none of which are the shop ON Wells Road in Orange Park, Broadsword Comics and Games. Even if I put in the zip code for Broadsword, it won't find it. The Locator is as biased as the Previews Catalog, and it's going to be another nail in the comic industry coffin.

I've seen it both ways. I've had a miserable experience where the admittedly small shop only allowed one comic per person. I felt bad for youngsters/newbies having to make the decision between what you know and already love and what you don't. I haven't gone back to that shop for FCBD, even though it was where until recently I had my pull list and spent a decent amount of money.

The other shop is part of a larger chain and allowed one copy of each book per person. In fact, one year they commented on how shy people were about picking up books. I'm not sure they were aware there were different limits at other stores. I like them, but this year they only picked the bigger titles and it's very no frills approach to the day. Seeing all the pictures and accounts, I feel my corner of DC misses out on all the fun.

I think 1) if a shop is going to put a limit on the number of free comics, they should make that VERY clear, especially if it's a change from years past, and 2) yes, I do want to read Tiny Titans and Owly. I want to read them all. The shop should order plenty of free comics, as they are essentially an advertising expense.

Next year I will probably go to Gainesville instead of Jacksonville.

My local comic shop had a limit of 4 per person. I think that is a reasonable limit. Besides, did you really want a copy of Tiny Titans or Owly? Or, are you the jerk that took those from the kid waiting in line behind you?
